Rex's Hobbies

When Rex isn't playing music he enjoys Barbequing and fixing up old and abused Porsches, but his latest is something everyone should be doing.   Running their car on used veggie oil.  He's restoring a V.W. Diesel Westfalia and having it run on veggie oil that he gets from local restaurants.  Actually the first Diesel engine was run on Peanut oil at the world's fair.

For many years, Rex has collected and restored old Porsche sports cars. Doing most all of the work himself, the cars have proven to be fine investments. The newest car is an 87' Porsche 924S. This triple black car is all original. It is a 944 stuffed into a sleeker 924 body. The car came from a 17 year old girl who bought it in Florida during spring break and upon receiving 3 tickets on the way home to Wisconsin, was forced to sell the car, cheap, to me!

The oldest car is a 70' Porsche 911S. This car has been updated quite a bit to make it more reliable on the road. It's fast and loud. I remember the first time taking it out and going into a video store parking lot. At about 70 mph. It just turned where ever I wanted it to go and did not roll. My lady friend and I just sat in the car and laughed. What fun.... This car came to me as part of a divorce case. Neither spouse wanted the other to make money on the car. The out come was to sell it to me for next to nothing.

My favorite car is my 83' Porsche 928S. By this time your seeing a pattern in me collecting "S" cars! I bought this car on Ebay for a ridiculous low sum of money. It is a "Grey Market" German car. To some it means limited number, hard to get parts, everything is printed in German on the dash. But to me it means over 100 MORE horsepower than the American version. I have had the Texas state troopers thank me for pulling over when pointed to, as their cruisers could never catch me. Their words not mine. What fun.........
